In addition to my kitchen refresh with new counters and bar stools, I also purchased a new breakfast nook table. I needed a table that was very durable, regular height as well as a lighter color table to assist in the brightening up of my kitchen area. I previously had a counter height table and this just wasn't working for my 2 year old becuase it was more difficult for her to sit comfortably and safe, plus a regular height table is more intimate and cozy I think. This is not the best photo, but it is the only one I have of my old table. My old table has been with us for a long time and never really fit into my breakfast nook as far as I was concerned. Once we moved into our home (2 years ago)....I knew this is a piece of furniture we would be replacing eventually. I chose to go with a round table and I love it! I also purchased a round rug to go underneath it. I feel my breakfast nook is much cozier now. My table and chairs are Hooker furniture, which is solid wood. It is very heavy and sturdy. I am definitely a Hook furniture fan now! My new table has an 18 inch wide leaf that I am not currently using. It will change the table into a large oval shape. I will probably use it during special occassions. The table can seat 6 with the leaf. I love distressed furniture. This was a perfect fit for my kitchen area. To pull the table and rug together I purchased a new chandlier to go above the table. It is important to complete your room or area you are updating from top to bottom. Things to keep in mind are rugs, light fixtures, wall art and outlet covers. If you can't do it all at once, just do what you can....but before "completing" that room, make sure you look at the fine details. The small details are what can make the biggest difference sometimes. So here is the final outcome of my breakfast nook. I still have some wall art plans before this room is complete. Of course I will share those fun updates once I get started! Here are a couple of upclose shots of the table and chair details.
